How do I fit this picture into a luxury bedroom?

My dilemma is this great air brushing that we had made. It has a special place in our bedroom and we called it our 'self portrait' in light of the fact we were married on April Fools Day almost 20 yrs. ago. Over the years we have accumulated furniture into our bedroom from various places. We remodeled our bathroom but still there are no doors between it and the bedroom. The colors are different and the feel is Asian.

Now I'm baffled as to how to bring things together and give my bedroom the elegant finish out I really desire. I want to change the chair in the corner, the bed linens and add drapery but have no idea what color scheme to use. The linens have been red for about 6 yrs. now.

I'm totally lost! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

Go back to the Superman movies and check out architecture for ideas. You seem to have a mix of eclectic collected stuff that doesn't tie together nicely. I was always smitten by the Gothic feel of Batman. Rethink in terms of featuring your Superman piece. I think it needs to be re-matted and framed. The matte is too small and the frame does not feel like the epoch of the movies. Try and make your bedroom retreat, a hideaway for you and your "superman" in the actual setting you find in some of the movies. For example, the icy cave he took Lois to... something you can use to theme your room.

HI --- Love the painting, and the colors in it would be good accent colors for your room. You could put an asian or french style door on the bathroom . Something with a bamboo frosted glass or a vinyl printed film with an asian pattern. I think the paint color in the bathroom would also be good in the bedroom or even a shade or two darker. Paint everything moldings and all one color. Actually paint the bedroom ceiling the bathroom color and then the walls and the baseboards the darker tone of the same color. Have the crown molding the white it is now. I think you should treat yourself to some new bedding . Nice crisp white sheets and a coverlet or bed spread with a tone on tone pearly sheen to it . And then accent pillows in the blues or soft jade greens. If you have room have a side table and your lamps on each side of the bed. The large temple jar that is on the floor can be on the table that is under your picture.Or on top of the tall narrow cabinet that is on the left. That picture should be lowered a bit to almost the top of the cabinet . When you find your chair and ottoman for that corner, side it with a small round drum accent table and a floor lamp. For the windows ,just have some textured off white drape panels hung from ebony chunky rods and rings and some crystal finials. You might have to replace the lamp shades if they seem to be not the right color after the room is painted .

Thank you both, you've given me a lot to think about. Here is the chair I was looking at and the bed linens. My husband love the idea of a 'Fortress of Solitude' but I'm having trouble in visioning the picture frame. This is a painting on canvas so I don't think I can have a custom matting made any larger than the standard sizing. Also, if I got silver nightstands could I still keep my headboard??

What about getting the painting stretched onto a frame? If it was done on canvas that would be a nice simple way to display it. Might not be big enough then but it shouldn't be a problem to have a custom frame shop advise you on a frame that would fit this style. And they'll definitely be able to make a frame big enough. It will cost, though!

The canvas is already stretched onto a frame. By itself it would be too small for the space. I like the idea of an ornate frame so that I can still provide elegant bedding. That said I will ask the professionals at a frame shop for a second opinion. Thanks!
