What is the spring plant swap?

MAG has a big spring swap in early May, usually at Gardenganma's incredible place in Burtonsville, MD. Have's and Want's lists get set up on the exchange page about 6 weeks out for the organized to make prearranged swaps; others just bring seedlings, divisions, plants, pots, compost etc. that day and people walk around, socialize and swap garden stuff, mostly plants. Then we have a big potluck lunch. Some years we've had as many as 75 cars.

Unlike a lot of swaps, we don't nesessarily look for direct exchanges of plants. Except for marked pre-arranged trades, people just pretty much give plants to anyone who asks. People with no plants to swap just bring chocolate.
