When I grew alpine strawberries in part sun, their flavor was incredible, but the berries were pretty small. They do not spread by runners and I think they are short lived.

I'm starting a bunch from seed this year, both red and yellow.

I've never done the yellows before, but they say they have a pineapple touch in their taste.

I grew them for a couple of years. The flavor wasn't as amazing as I expected. Fresh picked standard strawberries taste better to me. They are pretty little plants, though.

I was given a few plants at the MAG spring swap that had been grown from seed. The plants are still in the garden about 5 years later. The kids like checking the plants for strawberries, but they are competing with the squirrels and the birds.

I think these are not great as a garden plant except decoratively. If I were growing them for fruit, I'd give them a raised bed with careful mulching. They'd also be good in the classic strawberry pot.
