Are they dead?

21 years ago

I had the unfortunate circumstance of having a remodel of my basement done and the contractor on very short notice making me move my maples last year.

One maple has not leafed out at ALL and looks like a twig;

the main leader of the emperor maple has been broken off and is only partially leafed out;

the matsumurae has not leafed out at all EXCEPT on the very bottom area;

2 bloodgoods have not leafed out at all;

1 bloodgood has had die back and is looking kind of thin

Is there hope for these trees or should I consider them dead? What can I do?

My yard is natural woodland with a large 80+ year old sugar maple dominating its landscape but the other maples were doing well underneath. I let the leaves naturally decompose and the groundcover is predominately violets and lilly of the valley.

Any help would be appreciated.
