Good evening.

On May 22nd, my 4 year old daughter and a few friends had a failed (I hope) assasination attempt on my October Glory Maple.

They beat the trunk with croquet mallets.

I've cut away the the bark that was damaged.

Tonight I noticed little black balls held together by a web like material.

What is this? Does it need treated? In cutting back what little bark I missed, I saw a 1 in white worm. Quickly killed it. Are those related?

Thank you!
