Hi, I was hoping to seek some advice on pruning these two young trees. I know the basics of subordination pruning but have little practical experience. I've followed this forum for years and would welcome any advice.
Osakazuki is about 4' tall, was planted as a ~2-3 year graft and has been in ground 2 years. It was headed prior to shipping and the leader declined in vigor. You can see the leader is still higher than any other branch but is being out-competed by 3 other similar-sized branches.
Seiryuu is ~6' tall. It was trained as a standard and badly lion's tailed when I got it. It has also been in-ground 2 years and has grown quite vigorously. I aggressively reduced the side branch to the right earlier in the season.
Any advice on which pruning cuts I should make from here? I am guessing all branches on Osakazuki should be temporary branches. What about Seiryuu -- is the one major branch too low to be permanent?
