Garden centers here have the 'Phoenix', so it is getting around. Probably coming from a grower in Oregon.

I got mine from a wholesale nursery in Oregon. What part of jersey are you in?

Central Jersey, just outside of Trenton. Which wholesale nuresry fif you get yours from? I was thinking about putting an order in with Stanley and Sons, but I am not sure if I can order that much without my wife killing me :>

Does she really need to know? Sometimes some things are meant not to be shared with spouses.I am sure she probably bought a nice pair of shoes sometime and didn't let you know.So go ahead and place the order.....

Warning disclaimer: I am not responsible for what happens to you if you get caught.LOL

I was at Greer Gardens first thing this spring just as they got their shipments of Phoenix in. They had about 8 ro 10 each of both grafted and tissue culture plants. They were very small, mabye 6-8" in 4" pots for $50 or more-I don't quite remember. As Ron pointed out, they are coming out of Oregon----the tissue culture plant was nice without the graft union and contrasting understock, but I am not sure I am comfortable with that method of propagtion in maples for extendend longevity. I think it needs a track record in retail sale before we pay those sorts of prices for an 8" plant. Did I mention only one budded stalk--they didn't have leaves when I saw them--just a stick. It was a hard sell.

Wait until these plants, Silver Vein included, become more available and the price will come down some. I should just be a year or two.

Well seeing that I have 45 tree species on a lot that is 40 x 110 which includes my house. I can see why she would be a little concerned about more trees. I think I have about 3 more years before we have to move :>.

I think I have reached my quota for the spring and summer anyway. I would also like to wait for the tissue cultured plants vs. the grafts. Some places seem like that are not taking to much care in creating a nice clean graft union anyway.
