I have a "Madison" outside my back door, in a fairly protected spot. It's been there four years; I had to move it once, two years ago, to install a trellis. So far, I can't say that I'm wild about it---it makes it through the winter, but looks pretty ratty by spring (now). And it has yet to bloom for me. It's in a well-prepared garden bed, so I don't think that's the problem. I'm going to give it another couple of years (this summer and next) to see if it finally takes off. But if it continues to look so-so, I'll either move it again or pass it along.
