Japanese maple

Hi,

I have 2 Japanese maples in the front yard of my house. I just moved in there a couple weeks ago and havent really pruned or taken any care of them.

The thing is that the trees dont have red/burgundy leaves. Some part of the plant is the red color but most of it is green. Some one told me that it might be a sprout of the original plant on which the red was grafted.

Please tell me how to get the beautiful red color I see on everyone else's trees. Should I prune the green?

Please go the above website to look at the picture of the tree.

I appreciate any help you can provide.

Thanks,

Vaishali.
