They got mine last year also. I returned from New Zealand and all my azaleas were leafless.

They grew new leaves and now are full of flower buds so it didn't really seem to bother them.

I am going to keep an eye out this spring and if I see them I think I'll try insecticidal soap. It worked well on the sawflies that were eating my dwarf pines last spring. I think the key is checking daily and catching them early.

I haven't tried the insecticidal soap. I'll have to give that a try. I'm going to check my shrubs daily this time.

They're back. The leaves aren't even fully out and they are eating them. About 2 weeks later than last year.
