Garden Swap May 17

As I look out the window at still mostly white, it seems a garden swap is a bit farfetched, but...we in little Mantorville are ready and planning for our annual spring fling. I'll be organizing the garden swap again and it'll take place (starting promptly at) 2:00 pm til done on Saturday May 17. There is usually a swap in the twin cities sometime in the spring but we do this for anyone interested and have grown nicely in each of the 2 past yrs we've done it.
For those of you who've never participated in a swap, we line everything up and each person briefly describes what they've brought, then it's time to get your plants or other treasures (absolutely free!). In order to maintain some semblance of order, we limit each participant to selecting one item on the first 'round', two in the 2nd round, and so on for 3-5 rounds depending on how many folks show up. After that it's a free for all with everyone hoping everything they brought gets taken because they've likely picked up a carload of 'stuff' they didn't have.
Now! Some folks think these are just plant swaps. No such thing! You can bring extra pots, trellises or whatever 'garden related' stuff you have or even don't bring anything but yourself (hoping you'll be back next year w your own treasures of course)....and flowers, bulbs etc you've started or dug to share with your garden friends.
This is way to long for a first notice and I'll update along the way but we do really hope you can come add to the fun!

We're in Mantorville which is located @ 17 miles NW of Rochester on MN Hwy 57. We have several great places to eat ranging from Hubbel House for a full lunch to others for sandwich/soup and 'home cooking'. We also have a couple of nice antique shops, an art gallery and a walking tour in case you're interested in making a day trip for more than the garden swap.

    Hello!
So I'm starting my first garden this year. I'm in Hayfield. I was wondering what kinds of things are at the swap and what kind of things are typically brought? Since I won't have anything to offer this year, do you have any suggestions?

You don't really have to bring anything so please do come on over. We've had folks bring everything from veg or flowers they started fm seed to divisions of periennials, garden art, dahlia bulbs, canna roots...never know just what is gonna show up.
As I look out at my little pond, I have a 'gazillian' seedlings of the pink and white himalayan impatiens I had there last year...will try to dig some and have for interested swappers...bees and hummers really liked it.
    Hope you can join us.

OK, like many I'm trying to do gardenwork in those rare moments the ground is dry enough to dig....mostly trying to get more stuff out for the swap Sat. I had a cuple of surgeries over the winter and can't do it myself so if anyone is interested in digging, dividing (and replanting the leftovers please) bring a helper on Sat to do the digging.
    Directions:
From Mnpls - Down Hwy 52, turn R onto Hwy 57 at Hader and continue South to Mantorvile - signs to the swap will be posted
From Rochester - Hwy 14 West to Kasson then N on Hwy 57 fr 3 miles to Mantorvile - watch for sign (on left( just after crossing the bridge.
From West - Hwy 14 East to Kasson then N. on 57 toMantorville (3 miles), watch for signs.
I'll try to check here before Sat or you can call me at 507-635-5901,
    Will
