I have written this forum with many questions about this particular maple which seems to be in trouble. I don't know if it is being damaged by the squirrels, who seem to be stripping great hunks of bark off, which so far has killed about 12 branches, or if the tree is dying for some other reason (if it's even dying at all or has some diseae)I wish I could tell you what type it is, but endless searches have failed to identify it for me. My question, if I am going to lose this tree, how do I go about propagating it? When I received this tree, it was a 6 foot tall stick with no roots or branches..........nothing. I stuck it in the ground and 16 years later it is a 30-40 foot beauty. If I must do grafting, I'm afraid that is out of my realm of knowledge. I hope someone can help me, this tree, for very personal reasons, means a great deal to me. Thank you.
