I got that lilac in the ground and mulched and watered the heck out of it, and it doesn't even seem to be pouting!! Which is astonishing considering I beat it up getting it out of the ground, strapped it on the hitch-hauler and hauled it home, then it sat in the sun until I got the hole widened for it.

I'm now plotting how to get at least one of the crepe myrtles home... ooooohhh, I have a friend who lost a tree in the mini-tornado/windstorm we had earlier, maybe they need one too...hmmmmmmm!!

Hey Lynne, was that "mini-tornado/windstorm" this past Sunday night? We were at a friend's house, about 15 minutes from our home in Westminster. Next morning I found a piece of our siding on the ground. We have never lost siding, even during hurricane Isabel and other severe storms.

I know the winds at our friend's house were truly intense.

Watergal, it was ummmm I think last fall, September, maybe. I only remember that my friends were at Disney and were in the part of town hardest hit but had minimal damage to their house. MANY trees were lost.

We did have strong winds here too, with the storms on Sunday, but I think it was much worse up your way than here.

As long as the siding didn't land in your garden...

Nope, just a small piece, and only on the lawn. Lawn is dh's territory (and it's shrinking every year as the gardens expand!)

I beleive you had mentioned you were interested in learning about hypertufa. The Botanical Garden on the Mall has the best hypertufa troughs I have ever seen. Big nicely done and nicely planted. Featured in yesterday's post.
