just wanted to post this as i recently discovered a great local source in my quest for some asian pear trees. A place called Pong's in Fulton, Md (12305 Carol Drive; near intersection of 216/108; just outside Columbia). They have a beautiful, established organically grown Asian pear orchard. Al and May Pong run the place and sell lots of unique trees including citrus, figs, asian pears, etc. They also have lots of fresh asian pears beginning in august. They are off the beaten path (in a neighborhood) so you would never just come across them. ......
