I started with a few throughout the garden. Then I got a few more. I just moved them during the winter, so they are all together which I think is much better. Next year they should do even better. I think leafmold as ferilizer and mulching is helpful. They are beautiful, but just for a short time, just like peonies. But then, short-lived is normal, right?

I too have been seduced. My advice is to keep your eyes open for them at reasonable cost whenever you check out a new nursery. They can easily sell for $50-$65. I got one at Bluemount Nursery on Rte 7 for $25 yesterday...

The swap couldn't have been timed better then! Leafmold is a good idea. My tree peonies are scattered through the garden, most in the ground but some in pots. After seeing yours I am thinking about putting them together too. It will be a few years before they make such an impressive display. I have one good-sized rockii, but the rest are very young.

Annebert thanks for recommending Bluemount. I'm going to try to get out there this week-end. Which tree peony did you buy?
