Use fresh pine mulch on raspberry bushes?

My dear husband had power-line fellows drop off a few loads of newly chipped-up trees on our land. At first he just wanted to make paths in the raspberry patch, but he got carried away and mulched the respberry bushes too. Has he made a serious mistake?

Pat, we've been using woodchips as mulch on our asparagus and raspberry bed and have had excellent results! (dont have to worry about weeding!) We also throw down about a inch of manure on top of the chips in the spring, we've got three different types of raspberries and they are all doing well, good luck!
