Tree establishment and leaf durability

I own eight Japanese maples and protect them from direct sunlight here in the gulf south. This is my first year of maple collecting. I am wondering if over time as the trees become established can the leaves take more heat, and not shrivel as the trees get older?

The trees have survived the transplant shock and I can protect the trees from direct sun for two or more years until they out grow the covered table I have constructed for them.

Basically I just want to know will the trees tolerate more and more sun over the years?
