Time for herbs?

I know the "after Mother's Day" rule (or after 5/15 or later) for getting things going, but is it too soon to buy herbs and get them into the ground? Better to pot them inside for a few more weeks? Am I pushing it? (So eager to start things...) Thanks...

I think some are deffinatly hardier than others you might need to goolge each one I have dill and cilantro outside and some others in a container I bring back in at night

For the few things I buy, I do like to buy them early. But the ground is still pretty cool yet for most things.
When I buy them early (so I can take care of them instead of them getting leggy and neglected at the mass nursery) I'll keep them in their containers and cover or bring them inside if the temps threaten freezing.
Also, keep in mind if you buy them at a greenhouse, they will need a little hardening off to toughen them up before planting out.
