You will get a few, but "purists" tell you that in order to really get your crowns established you are supposed to pick off ALL the blossoms this year *rolls eyes*. My grandma never does or did and she's never had a problem. I DID because I really have mine in a bad location and it was a pretty good idea. If the bed is well established you should be fine.

But a question I should ask is are they "everbearing" or "June bearing" - June bearing will actually do better if you DO pluck the blossoms... everbearing could care less :)

For fear of also being called a mean-faced old nasty prune ... I planted 10 strawberry plants last spring and harvested ... dum da dum dumm .... TWO strawberries! That's right, TWO! So, who knows? Maybe you'll get four!

The first year is always the hardest to get through- just try and imagine how good they will be next year and all the years that follow. If I knew where you lived I would drive up in June with a pint of berries and tie them onto the plants for you because I am really feeling your pain man. Sigh...

We never plucked our strawberries the first year we planted them, we planted 25 of them and now we must have 500, we probably planted them about 5 years ago. The first year, yeah you probably won't get many but...do as you wish but I don't think it will really matter either way that you do it. We always get the June bearing.

I'm trying the Tristar variety, which is supposed to bear the first year. Hope it's not a lie!
