Acer rubrum 'Red Sunset'

Want to plant this beautiful tree in yard about 8-10 feet from a sidewalk. Will the root system buckle the sidewalk?

Planting in alkaline/clay-filled soil and preferably in next couple of weeks before any deep frost or freezing.

Any tips or misgivings about planting this red maple in NE Illinois? Thanks.

That seems like enough room, I planted one of these in Chicago a few years ago and it's doing great. It seems like a very popular tree that the city is planting in parkways as well, so I'm guessing our Forestry folks wouldn't be creating huge headaches for themselves, they're pretty highly regarded (they did an excellent job containing the Asian Longhorn beetle).

that is probably more than enough room to prevent dammage to the sidewalk.... in your lifetime.
