No idea if it's mostly the same around MD, but I live in Cecil Co and our soil tends to be acidic. It was the same in Harford Co where I use to live and the same in Balto Co where I grew up.

But then again, I guess one person's idea of acidic may be different depending on what they're trying to grow. I'm basing my idea of acidic on growing turf grass.

BTW, my grandmother never used any lime for her garden soil and she never had problems with growing veggies.

What sort of "problems" are you seeing?

I live in Washington county and my soil PH is 6.8.

Grasses, veggies and most ornamentals do best in a slightly acidic soil between 5.8- 7.0 PH values outside this range can result in less vigorous growth and nutrient deficiencies.

Personally I wouldn't lime it. If you do however I'd wait till fall and do another ph test. You won't see the results of liming this year anyway.

I would do a soil test first. In our old home in Woodlawn, we had lots of oak leaves, and our lawn was more moss than grass. Liming helped a lot there. Here in Westminster, we don't need to.
