This has been an exceptionally tough summer and like many, my perennials are suffering. I had really good results cutting back my salvias after their first blooming and am wondering if yarrow will benefit as well.

I am wondering, however, if cutting yarrow back will stimulate them to new growth. It would be nice if new foliage would start. I have cut back the dried flower heads, but has anyone out there cut back the whole plant? And if you have, how far back?
