Dream Vacation!

I just had to share as I am so excited! I thought I was destined to stay home this summer and paddle local lakes and rivers, bike, spend time with my children, and most importantly plan gardens and plant hostas. But suddenly my friend and I have planned our dream vacation for the middle of July. We are going to go visit Jim at Harbor Lane Gardens (Idiothe) in MN. We are also going to stay in a cabin on an island in a lake northwest of the cities, kayak and bike to our hearts content, participate in woodworking at the resort, etc., but those are just minor details. My friend and I are going to leave our husbands, children and pets at home and run away to MN to visit Jim's gardens! We are going to pack very light, put most of our gear and clothing in our boats on top of the car and leave the entire trunk empty to bring home gorgeous hostas to Iowa. I know other people's dream vacations are cruises, disneyworld, Europe, but this is ours this summer. :) I am just so excited and just had to share with others that I think will understand. Oh and at the woodworking wednesday workshop I am going to make a funky birdhouse for my garden. Only because Brian wasn't willing to change it to welding wednesday so I could make metal garden art. :) So if any Iowans need me to bring back hostas from Jim's, I will be glad to give them a ride.

That is a dream vacation - a great place for hostas, kayaking, and no one to look over your shoulder while you shop. Better yet, you have a hosta friend who also enjoys kayaking and biking. Have fun!

The joy you feel is tingling through the key strokes! Mid July......hmmmm, what a great time to skip the traces and pull a Thelma and Louise....just don't be jumping off Niagara Falls....more in your neck of the woods than the Grand Canyon.

Kind of scary... all that excitement... and I'm supposed to be part of the entertainment...

Didn't I ever tell you I start each day by peering into the bathroom mirror and saying "Now THERE is a reliable disappointment..."

Sometimes Idiot She calls me Eeyore... but I think he was too much of an optimist for my taste...

I like the Thelma and Louise thing... except for the whole killing the guy, blowing up the truck, driving off a cliff thing.

Think we'll try to dial back the excitement a little...

LOL! I don't know Jim, we are pretty exciting. Perhaps we should invite the entire forum to come and have a hosta forum get together in your garden. :) Sheila and I think we will start planning our kayak goddess paddling trips around hosta gardens. So everyone throw out ideas for where we should go next year.
