There is a wonderful wildlife sanctuary in Woodbine MD that takes in injured or orphaned wild animals. It is called Friskys. The website is http://www.friskys.org. We have taken several birds there.

I have called frisky once about a baby bird that I had seen hoping around. with two seemingly distressed parents. But they assured me it was a fledgling learning how to fly and not to worry.

You should never touch a baby bird because the mother will abandon it if it does not smell the same. Also birds cant really come and get there young. They cant pick them up a carry them somewhere else. So the only hope really is to call a place like friskies.

A bit late, but there is a wildlife sanctuary in Montgomery County called Second Chance Wildlife Center 301-926-9453, 7101 Barcellona Drive, Gaithersburg, MD 20879.

The parents were not going to rescue the babies after a trip through your chimney, so taking them to the rehab center was the thing to do. They will also take possums, rabbits, chipmunks, woodchucks, squirrels...nearly anything in addition to birds.

There are at least 5 more rehab centers in Maryland, but you'd have to search the Internet for them. Another way of dealing with this situation is to bring the animals to your local Humane Society shelter. They are usually connected to the local wildlife rehab community.
