Maple Tree

I have a maple tree on my front lawn that has been dropping leaves all summer. It has been getting progressively worse and now the lawn is fully covered. I realize that the summer is almost over but can I do something to prevent a reoccurrence next year?

Get a good tree man to take a look. We lost a good one to vertciilium wilt. You can stop it by cutting the tree back and fertilizing and watering if that is the problem. Are the leaves mottled with brown? Don't wait if you want to keep the tree. We had several like that in our neighborhood. Some were rescued, some were not. Steve in Baltimore County
