I Have one too!!! my first and it just opened up this morning!

Mine opened yesterday, but by the time I got around to taking a picture (around 3:00pm)it was already starting to close for the day. So this is from this am.
(There is a big oak that casts its shadow over the pond by that time of the day.)

I have two lilys aswell.. one is blooming now for the last week or so.. its a yellow one.. my other is supposed to be a pink one.. following is a pic I took.

Lucky Ducks! My water lilies haven't bloomed yet this year. They had to be replanted twice this spring/summer since the Koi wouldn't quit digging them up. This is the first year by Koi have bothered my plants and it's bumming me out. Thanks everyone for sharing pics of yours, I hope to enjoy some of my own soon.

Must be the time of year, my water lily gave it's first bloom of the season as well. It's white though, which is kind of humorous because last year I already had a white one, so bought a yellow one and a red one from walmart. When they bloomed they were all white. Oh well, white is nice too, especially in a shady pond.

My koi don't seem to bother the plants too much, though the fish aren't that big yet (6 inches long maybe?) Last year though, I swear they were eating some of the flower buds while the buds were tiny and just emerging, but I could be wrong.

How long has your lilies lasted. My first one that bloomed opended on June 28th and is now closed for the last few days and is doing nothing. Do they usually only last for a week?

They usually last less than a week, perhaps 4 days. Afterward, the flower won't open and will eventually sink below the water and the flower and stalk will rot. You can cut it off as close to the base as possible to prevent having rotting plant material in the pond.

Oh thank you for the post...I hope that the lily that is blooming now will hold out just a litte longer, our garden club is touring each members garden next sunday.
