Gee, it almost looks like a delphinum leaf but I am not sure. How tall does it get?

Someone on another board just mentioned delphinium too, but I looked up some photos online and none of them look like this.

Its probably 18" right now. Like I said, I noticed it when we moved in last year and wasn't sure whether it was weed or not, so I left it. Its a bit taller and bushier this year than last, but still not flowering, no buds or anything at all.

I'm still looking at perennial geraniums. Some of them don't look at all like this one, but one or two varieties are very similar. Wish it would flower!

Of course, there are many kinds of delphiniums too, and leaves vary even on the same plant depending on sun and position on the plant itself. My leaning is toward delphs too, although it might be a geranium or anemone.

Ya know, I thought my handle was unique until I found someone had taken it when I tried to register at yahoo. I just gotta ask: L(a)dy Jar Head?

Looks like delphinium to me too. Funny that it doesn't bloom, tho.

You know, I really think you guys may have hit it with delphinium. I looked closely this morning and I see little green fuzzy spikes coming straight out the top of two of the stalks. I do believe they may be buds!

I think I was thrown off by the fact that the leaves and all branch out some, but when I look at pictures in bloom, the flowers grow straight up. Now that I see where these possible buds are positioned, it sure looks like more of a match. I can't wait to see what colors I get!

I'm guessing that maybe this was planted two years ago and takes a full year or more to produce flowers? Its sure taller than last year and I know it never had a single bud or flower. Its right outside my large back window and no way I'd miss it. Also, its in a spot with more shade than sun, could that be a factor?

Off to do more research on delphiniums. Thanks everyone!

Hmmm. Now that sounds more like geranium or anemone. (Thumbnail pics).
Delphinium flower stalks always start from the ground.

Delphinium (at least mine) thrive in sun,unless it's bluebird which it doesn't seem to be. Can you move it to a sunny spot? If so, it will bloom a few times over during a season. I think it would be ok to move it ,if you can.what do you'all think?

Ok, I officially give up and will wait 'til it blooms!

In case you are trying to identify the accent plants too, they would be dandelions.....(grin)....ask me how I know!

My King Arthur delphiniums are in shade and are doing well there. They bloom for me so I left them in the shade, as sun is a premium here in the woods!

You beat me to it, I knew that the accent plants were dandelions. Probably for the same reason that you know. Did you see them in someone else's garden too?

Why, yes, Pauline....as a matter of fact, I have. They do get charming round puffs of seeds, and have the most delightful way of being carried off in the wind. I have plenty I could share and several of my neighbors have even more vigorous stands than I. :]
I understand the earliest leaves are quite palatable in a salad. If anyone would like to come and get some, I promise to be most generous!
