They are so pretty....I need some of those to go with my pink ones.

I saw in my Minnesota wildflower book that there is a darker pink one called the pink ladyslipper that looks different from the showy ladyslipper. Have you or anyone ever seen that one? It must be pretty rare- the territory listed is in the northern two thirds of the state. The only other one that I have seen is a yellow one that is so small that you could fit a Barbie's foot in the slipper. They bloom slightly earlier than the yellow that I have pictured.

There are several ladyslippers (orchids) that grow wild in MN, but the only ones that I have seen are the yellow and showy pink.

There is one that Mellinger's used to offer and that I've seen on ebay. I think it C. "auricle" or something vaguely like that. It is pink, but doesn't have the flashy "thingy" at the heel of the slipper. It is supposed to be easier than the showy - I did try them once, but couldn't get them to come up!

I transplanted my yellow and showy ladyslippers this year and the yellow one did not bloom only the leaves came up looking healthy. Any suggestions as to why or was it just transplant shock.

I have read that Trilliums don't like disturbance and if they are disturbed they often won't flower the following year. I suppose that it takes energy from them to regenerate root structure and that sort of thing. I am not an expert but I would guess it to be the same with ladyslippers.
