I agree. My Mack the Knife is much larger than a "mini". More list a large dwarf or short small. Love the color, tho. I have had it for 3 or 4 years.

It has not been a good grower for me....at least it has been so far a very slow hosta. I would have expected more vigor...

Many specific hosta have fairly well known growth habits and sizes, mini's on the other hand are far more difficult to determine if they fall into the mini size.

The AHS is even as we speak working on defining which plants are mini's, headed by Schmid and Pollock and others.

Bunnycat - I have Mack The Knife and it is doing well for me, it looks a lot like Papou's. However, the photo you posted is most definitely NOT Mack THe Knife. It looks a bit more like Little Doll (which is a small not a mini).

I have a few hostas that came with growers tags that are wrong. I have no idea what my Zounds-not really is.

My Mack the Knife looks like the photos in the HL, however. You and Papou have Mack's with narrower leaves, which would seem more appropriate, considering the name.
Maybe the leaves get wider with age? Like LS Kaleidoscope and Wolverine, for example.

Bunnycat I agree yours does not look much like Mack the Knife.
MTK has an unusual shade of orange yellow in the margin,
the leaves are elongated not round.
