What a beautiful flower! Luvsmydaisy, could you give me a few more details on buying this wonderful flower at the State Fair? I'm assuming it was in the Hort building, but any other details would be of interest. Do you know if they have them every year? Thanks for any information you care to share.

Yes I bought it in the Hort. building...IT is the little booth that is set up sort of in the middle...I don't know if they have each year, you pay for it there but they do not have the plants there. I bought the oldest plant that the have but I don't remember what that was.

Your Lady Slipper is beautiful. I am blessed with three pink Lady's up at my lake place. I was wanting to get a pic on Sunday when one of them opened up, but the camera wasn't with us. I hope that one or both of the other two will be in bloom this coming weekend. I'm glad everyone can look at your pics and enjoy yours.

The grwoing conditions that my slippers like and do best in is moist, well drained soil. With the past few weeks being quite damp, they seemed to pop up and grow overnight. I was surprised to see one in bloom.

Mine are in shade with some very late afternoon sun. I do water them frequently because they are under some big trees, other than that I do not do anything special.

Fantastic. We have some that came up naturally and bloom every year. I've read that to keep them healthy they need to have some oak leaves for a mulch. I've never found any comfirmation on this. Probably the nursery that sold them to you gave you growing instructions. There are two different pink ones that grow in Minnesota. Thanks for sharing your pics.

I bought my showy ladyslipper fromt he Herb Man who is at the St. Paul Farmer's Market each summer. You can spot him because he wears a leather hat with a large feather. Mine is hardy and blooms each year even after transplanting.Good Luck

I have read that it takes 15 years from seed for it to bloom. I bought what ever the oldest plant was that they sell at the fair and it bloomed the next year after planting it in my garden.
