Monarda didyma (species and cultivars) grow like that. Usually one flower per stem but sometime double-decked.

The Rose? Haven't got a clue! Maybe just a freak occurance? Interesting.

Most all of the different types of monarda that I grow have a couple to many per plant that "double up" - that is not uncommon to me- But the rose- that is unusual!
Do you find it an attractive quality? If so- maybe you might like to propagate more of that stem/branch. It is unique (to me)- and may be of interest to others....

Yes, I did think the monarda may be kind of a normal thing but the rose is odd. It's kind of a shrub rose. Each part of the double one is half the size of a normal bud so it'll be interesting to see what it does. I'll try to post when it opens.

PLEASE post your rose pictures on the Rose Forum! They may have some interesting answers for it! Let us know what they say :) (I don't get in there as much as I should anymore)
