There was an article written in a garden magazine in the last year on salt tolerant plants. Including those for the "hell strip" between the road and sidewalk. Can't recall one!

Several of my neighbors have planted daylilies around their mailboxes and they seem to be thriving even tho our salt trucks come often each winter.. It takes a lot to kill a daylily and they make great foliage in the summer along with pleasant flowers...of course, nothing in the winter..
