When you get out of that cold, wet climate (like I did!)..try Lantana (the purple flowered type), Petunias, Hedychium (fragrant gingers), night stock, night phlox. It has been my experience that fragrant white flowers attract moths quicker after blooming. The Lantana usually has so many flowers however that when they find it, it becomes very popular. Down here a planting of it attracts sphinx moths nearly year round!

Puget Sound? Moths? Hmmm...

Have you ever read Tom Robbins' novel _Another Roadside Attraction_? It's a lovely whimsical piece, but the reason I recommend it is that he writes of the heavy sensual beauty of moths as compared to the flightier, more playful beauty of butterflies.

Incidentally, the novel is set in Puget Sound.

On the Moths of Washington site, it says most moths do not feed, but you can attract them by planting host plants for their larva. I guess the best thing to attract moths would be to turn on a light outside.
