Typically, if the seeds naturally drop in the fall, just let them fall and they should germinate in the spring, when it warms up. I do a lot of fall/winter sowing of outdoor plants.

I keep mine in a plastic jar as a safety measure, though I've never had to replant the vines - they self seed quite readily.

I'm probably not helping much because we live in subtropical coastal australia and they grow all year round. Though I have given 6month old seeds to friends and they sprout quite readily.

I keep my seeds in a old prescription bottle ( or in a washed film cannister ) and they are fine when spring comes around. I have even sowed 2 yr old seeds and they grew too, to my utmost surprise!
