I have a clump in an area that's fairly shaded, and it's doing better than I expected. It's shorter and its spread has been much slower than clumps in sunnier areas, and it blooms later than the clumps in sunnier areas. But the fact that it remains alive and blooms at all is somewhat surprising to me. I don't think mine gets even a couple hours of direct sunlight, so I'd say, give it a shot.

Mine only gets a few hours sun in the afternoon and does fine.

Mine is in at least 3/4 shade and does well, blooms every year.

Do any of you have it planted in a dry area that gets minimal to no supplemental watering? I've always heard it likes moist conditions.

I've got mine in an area where it gets afternoon sun and no additional watering - it's thriving.
