You MUST go to Edelweiss Landscaping and Nursery. This is my favorite nursery in MN. Many, many unusual plants and very nicely landscaped grounds. This nursery is off the beaten path so you should call or visit their web site for directions. You would NEVER just drive past this place and the nursery is just a few minutes outside of Duluth.

Mike, Thanks so much for the suggestion--it sounds like a great place and we usually have lots of time between some of the baseball games so I know we'll have time to visit. I love to go to garden centers that have great landscaping or display gardens so it sounds like my kind of place. I'm going to their web site right now. Thanks again.

There is a place in Wisconsin called Pederson's http://www.pedersongardens.com/ nother cool nursery!

And, for food, I recommend a new place that just opened in the Fitger's Brewery complex. Name? Baja Billy's.....(my nephew is the manager! LOL)

And, you do visit the Leif E Rose Gardens, right? (Built on top of the freeway!)

I'm going to Duluth, two weeks from today. Our favorite places are the Great Lakes Aquarium (mostly fun for kids), Gooseberry Falls State Park , (if you have time to go up the North Shore Drive), the Glensheen Mansion, the Great Lakes Scenic Railroad, and Leif Erickson Rose Gardens. We rarely leave Canal Park, except to go north to the state parks. Have a good time, and let me know if you find anything I need to see!

Yes, we do usually visit the rose garden--(I forgot about that--it's so gorgeous) We are always looking for good places to eat so we'll probably try Baja Billy's (and if the manager is there I'll tell him auntie Sue sent us and give you credit for sending business his way--or maybe I'll call the manager over if he's there and absolutely gush over the food and exclaim loudly how I think it's the best place in the state I've ever eaten and not let on a thing about the hint you gave me about the place :) I think I'll also check out that place called Pederson's. I'm going to their web site now.

There are some nice city trials to explore without having to drive north. The one just above the zoo is beautiful and rugged. There's another one that follows a creek too but I can't remember the name. There's always walking along the beach at Park Point. The city puts out a wonderful booklet for visitors that lists all the city park/trails and places to see. I'd recommend picking that up.

Picking up that booklet is a great suggestion--thank you for thinking of that sjmarq--I think we stopped at a visitor center a long time ago when we visited Duluth with our kids years ago but of course I didn't even think of that this time. Two years ago we also had a baseball tournament there but the games were scheduled so crazy that we didn't have much time to get to places in between during the day time. This year our team has a game at 8:30 in the morning and then not again until 5:30 in the afternoon and then not again until 1pm the next day so I'm hoping to fit in lots of sight seeing in between. The garden centers mentioned in the earlier postings will be a must from looking at their web sites. Thanks again for the suggestions sjmarq.
