I am looking for plants to soften/cover a privacy fence in a small Mpls. yard. The yard is under an elm and between homes & garages, no direct sun but fairly light. Shrubs seem to get very wide(4-6"+)which would eat up my yard. Ivy seems too invasive. I have lots shade perennials hosta, ferns, columbine etc but all very low. Any ideas for something that grow 5'+tall and stays narrow ideally 2'-3' wide 4'max?
