I'm assuming they are the native species...just fine to do it now. For all my hardy seeds I direct sow in the fall, unless there's a compelling reason not to (seed needs to be planted as soon as it ripens, germination rate tends to be low, small quantity available, and so on).

I scattered columbine seed on a new area as they ripened on the plants earlier this summer. They have germinated so I have lots of seedlings growing. Go ahead and direct sow now. You could also save some seed to wintersow this winter.

Ditto. I sprinkled some on the garden earlier and they are coming up and I saved some for winter sowing.

Yes it is Sunday the 10th. I need to get in gear and get some plants in pots.
