Peony, Hydrangea (white), Snowball Bush and Rose of Sharon.

Clethra (summersweet) and purple sand cherry. Just planted a Carolina Allspice (calycanthus floridus), so we'll see how that turns out.

I'm loving my double rose of sharon right now. My hydrangea is very young, and I haven't had the pleasure of seeing it in full bloom yet. But I'm sure it will be my favorite when I do.

Hydrangea 'Annabelle' is my favorite so far.

I have heard a lot of good things about Hydrangea 'Annabelle'...might have to add that one to my yard...

Hydrangea 'Annabelle' looks great throughout the winter too. I leave the flower heads on the plants until they break away in late winter. The problem with 'Annabelle' is that it flops. The older the plant, the larger the flowers, the more they flop because the stems are very small. Email me. webkat. I have been giving away rooted cuttings for years. Mine are at least 17 years old and started to sucker some. I gave away several suckers last year and this year.

Hydrangea "tardiva" and oak leafed hydrangea - warning the latter becomes a monster plant.

Love virburnum of all types. Carleseii is wonderfully scented. V. chicago luster is so hardy, the leaves the most lustrous green. I could go on and enumerate the merits of these shrubs forever.
