Thanks much for the replies. I am looking for hop cultivars such as Nugget or Cascade. Sorry for not being more specific. I did not realize there is a common hop vine and an invasive (humulus Japonicus) that (supposedly) exist in Minnesota, have never personally seen examples of either one. The Japanese invasive sounds nasty.

There is increasing interest in growing hops for homebrewing (people like me), and microbreweries are gaining an interest in using locally grown ingredients. I would think local nurseries would want to take advantage of the trend. I will have to fire off some email inquiries around January or so, or just skip it and go the mail order route...

I have seen hops for sale but don't remember where as I don't grow them. Maybe at the Mn Arboretum sale over Mother's Day weekend.

You might also check the Friends sale list next spring.

Hops Nugget is also listed at Bacman's. You might check the plant lists at other garden centers or ask your local nursery to order it for you.

Old thread so you might have already found some, but there is a local homebrew store near me that sells several varieties of hops rhizomes in the spring. Since you're into homebrewing you might want to check out local shops near you to see if they sell them.
