Just got curious about what all of my Minnesota Gardening friends might do for a Minnesota OR Gardening related Christmas theme. We have two recurring themes here...

1) Birds - my favorite. I have a small fiberoptic tree that I decorate with bird decorations every year. It usually sits on my dresser and ads a touch of the outdoors to my bedroom. Most of my gardening is geared toward providing food and habitat for birds and butterflies so this one fits right in!

2) Mooses - yes mooses :-) Two years in a row, I bought the cutest moose toy for our dog Ellie from Target. She loves those mooses, even though they look more like road kill now! Target hasn't had these toys the last couple of years, so I've added a moose ornament each year. Not gardening but definitely Minnesota!

And a new thing this year, maybe one that will also become tradition at our house - I ran across some Christmas cookie cutters the other day, one in the shape of the state of Minnesota and one in the shape of (you probably guessed it) a moose! I mixed the cookie dough yesterday, baked them this morning (added a Christmas tree shape - or should I say evergreen from Northern Minnesota - to the mix) and this afternoon will decorate our very own special Minnesota Christmas cookies!
