Moving beds for construction

The bulldozer is arriving end of Oct to put addition where 30' X 40' flower beds are. What's the best way to move and overwinter perennials and shrubs until next spring?Boxwood, chokeberry, viburnum, daylily, helebores, goatsbeard, vinca, and much more.

Do you have room elsewhere to put them in the ground or will they all be in containers? Where in zone 5 are you?

If you can sink the containers in the ground, that would be best. Failing that, make sure they are in the shade, north side of a building is best, pack them together and maybe surround them with straw bales. The main thing is to get them dormant and keep them dormant. You don't want sun on black nursery pots heating up the roots. It could be zero outside and sun on a pot will heat the soil to 50 or 60 and confuse the daylights out of the plants. Maybe even cook the roots. Throw some snow on them once in a while as well.
