How many hours of sun will this spot get?

I've had a weeping norway spruce trained against the house for about 16 years. It's in light shade and grows slowly.

While you may have had one there Steve, 99.99% of the time a large tree growing that close to the house doesn't do much for the house nor the landscape.

Most landscape gestalt is to plant away from the house. Have a clear view of the house. Dynamic, composition and balance.

Just my opinion.

My last house, I had weeping white pine, weeping norway spruce, weeping larch (which was trained on rebar) and had an overall length of over 15', as well as weeping procumbens.

None of them were planted in the foundation as pendulas are best viewed as the specimens that they are.

Maybe you can tell us how many feet from the house you intend to plant this tree and how much girth are you allowing it?

It is common to plant a small tree in a larger circular bed or penninsula of some shape off the diagonal at the corner of the house. Most of the time I see either weeping cherries, japanese maples, crab apples or a type of birch in these spots. Also I've seen successful planting of trees near the house when there is a large wall to cover as in the case with a McMansion. It all has to do with scale and the style of house.

Anyway, I'd like to throw in Katsura pendula.
