sfox, I'm in northern Jersey and last year my local nursery was carrying varieties that are hardy in this zone. I'm sure you'll find some locally that will grow in your area.

Hello sfox, there are a number of nurseries in our area - Franklinville and Clarksboro both have nurseries that carry the crapes but you won't see them until May/June - I ordered mine through a website from GA last year and they did great! They had an immense variety of colors as well.
