My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.
How being a new gardener works? Typical course is first year you spend tons of money on new plants many of which are inappropriate for your climate then proceed to plant them in the wrong places for their light/soil requirements. Most of it dies at which point you decide you either have to get more info or switch to gravel for landscaping. Sounding familiar to anyone yet?
Start by digging up some ground....pulling out all weeds and adding lots of compost.....you probably will have to buy bagged compost. Then come back and we'll tell you what to do next. Linda C
Dana DW- LOL I totally relate to that! That's exactly the way it was (and basically still is) with me! Although I'd say I have advanced from "to be owned by me is certain death for plants" to "most of my plants die; but some rock hard toughies make it by an inch".... But anyway, Newbee, I won't give you any [awful] technical advice since I'm a greenhorn myself, but I can testify this about gardening: Never give up, never stop learning, and always have a sense of humor. You'll get back as much as you give your plants.
If you have not made a planting bed yet, try a sheet compost/lasagna method. You'll save a lot of elbow grease and will end up with a beautifull loamy soil for your plants.
Check out the Soil, Mulch, Compost forum for interesting and easy methods of tending your soil.
