repotting persian shield for indoors

I have a persian shield doing quite well in a pot with 2 dusty millers on the sides also doing quite well. Since I've read the persian shield can do well indoors in winter, should I just cut the dusty miller's down to the dirt or empty and eliminate the dusty miller's on the sides and then repot filling in the blank spots with add'l potting soil?
