Rain Damage Control

We're having some extreme weather--I don't have to tell you guys. I'm thinking about putting in some shrubs and I wondering if maybe I should defer any planting until next year, since I'm worried that things could rot, drown, etc. with this swampy weather (that doesn't look like it's going to let up any time soon). What are your thoughts?

I was just going to post on the same subject. I'm going NUTS! I wonder if spreading something, perhaps peat moss, on my front swamp (formerly my front yard), would help. I'm pretty sure that those water absorbing crystals would only make it worse. Just walking across the yard is difficult. What I've planted so far, in the breaks between the rain, is doing well though.

If this is going to be the norm in weather, we are going to have to concentrate on creating good drainage for all our plants and property.

Ideal???? Every step I take I sink down 6 inches and have to haul up my boots. I'm going to try to grow rice.

I tried to spread peat moss. It helped alot.
