I think you should be okay. Being right on the coast, your zone is a solid 7a if not 7b. I planted by hedge of Blue Princess Holly last February during a mild period and they're fine. What species do you have? Also, what kind of exposure do you have? If somewhat protected, all the better (somewhat shaded, not too windy, etc.). If you want, you can do some things to help them out. Mulch well for starters. Consider using an anti-desiccant. Of course, it all depends on the type of winter we get!! If it looks bad, just hold them over somewhere cool and bright (garage for example). Good luck!
