My Roses bloomed last year from May until November through the first couple of frosts. They had a lull that lasted for about a week or two with random one bloom at a time in July but did just has well after that. Also I used Rose food and applied it everytime it said to.

I remember my grandmother had a similar driveway in Southern California when I was a kid. Ahh... was that ever nice.

I think a lot depends on the type of rose bush. Some bloom repeatedly, some have only one or two flushes a year -- but may be worth it anyway. I have a floribunda that has a few flowers all the time, but has one flush in the spring where it is completely covered with roses. My David Austin and my rugosa roses seeem to have a fair number of flowers all the time.

The big concern around here is not crowding the plants too closely. It gets so humid in the summer that blackspot is a real problem -- and seems to leap from plants.
