Outbreak of mold on mulch?

My little backyard is fenced in with a solid fence, but there still seems to be a lot of breezes coming thru - even this past week, with sizzling hot temperatures. So I was surprised to see several patches of mold on my pine mulch yesterday afternoon.

One was a patch of bright yellow threads that, by this morning, had morphed into a solid gold mass about 6" x 4". The other patch is dark brown with rings of tan. Both are near, but not under plants.

I quit using hardwood mulch because I would occassionaly get patches of the oh-so-descriptively named "dog's-vomit mold. Do I need to stop using pine mulch as well?

(And is simply scraping up these patches and the mulch right around them sufficient?)
